Live At Home Scheme
One-
Our core service is One to One Befriending, where we match a Volunteer with a Member for ongoing support and friendship. Befriending is the basis from which the Scheme started originally and it embodies everything the Scheme stands for. One to One Volunteers offer friendship to older people who are isolated, possibly housebound and who often feel socially excluded. Our Volunteers currently befriend around 75 Members.
One of our Members said it was lovely to have someone coming to visit her for a chat rather than always coming to do something for her, like the cleaner, gardener or district nurse. It’s all about connecting with people and enjoying the company of others.
The area covered by our befriending services was recently extended to cover Micheldever north, Alresford east, Twyford south and Stockbridge west.
